ABOUT YEAR FUSION
YEAR FUSION is an original skill-based art competition presented by ALVIEVE CREATIVE that challenges artists to take inspiration from a single year and creatively bring that year to life through art.
Choose any year and combine 2–3 recognizable elements, ideas, events, trends, objects, styles, or cultural influences that helped define that year.
Your challenge is to creatively fuse those elements into one original, cohesive piece of artwork.
The year you choose must appear somewhere within your artwork.

1. ELIGIBILITY
YEAR FUSION is FREE TO ENTER. NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT IS NECESSARY.
Entrants must:
- Be 18 years of age or older at the time of entry.
- Be a legal resident of the 50 United States or District of Columbia.
- Submit their own original artwork.
- Comply with these Official Contest Rules.
The contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law.
YEAR FUSION is a skill-based art competition. Winners are selected based on the published judging criteria and not through a random drawing or chance.

2. THE YEAR FUSION CHALLENGE
Choose one year and create an original artwork combining 2–3 things that helped define that year.
Your inspiration may come from areas including:
- Culture and society
- Fashion and style
- Music and entertainment
- Technology
- Sports
- Historical moments
- Toys, products, or objects
- Trends and popular culture
- Other recognizable influences associated with your selected year
The goal is not simply to place several unrelated images beside one another.
Artists should creatively combine their selected elements into one cohesive and imaginative piece of art that represents their interpretation of the chosen year.
The selected year must be visibly incorporated somewhere within the finished artwork.

3. ACCEPTED ART MEDIA
YEAR FUSION accepts artwork created using:
Digital Illustration • Graphite/Pencil • Colored Pencil • Charcoal • Ink • Markers • Mixed Media
Traditional artwork may be photographed or scanned for digital submission.

4. ORIGINAL ARTWORK & AI POLICY
All entries must be the entrant's own original artwork.
AI-generated artwork is NOT permitted.
Artists selected as finalists may be required to provide reasonable evidence demonstrating their creative process.
Verification may include:
Progress Screenshots • Preliminary Sketches • Layers • Work-in-Progress Photos • Timelapse Footage • Other Reasonable Process Documentation
Failure or refusal to provide requested verification may result in disqualification.

5. COPYRIGHT & THIRD-PARTY MATERIAL
Artists are responsible for ensuring they have the necessary rights to submit and publicly display their artwork.
Because YEAR FUSION encourages artists to explore history, culture, entertainment, technology, trends, and other influences, artists should create their own artistic interpretations rather than simply copying existing photographs, illustrations, logos, characters, designs, or another artist's work.
If an entry incorporates or references recognizable characters, logos, brands, products, trademarks, or other third-party intellectual property, the artist must clearly acknowledge that those properties belong to their respective owners and that the artist does not claim ownership of or affiliation with those properties.
Providing this acknowledgment does not grant permission to use copyrighted or trademarked material and does not replace any permission or license that may be legally required. Each entrant remains responsible for ensuring that their submission and use of third-party material complies with applicable intellectual property laws and these Official Rules.
Entering YEAR FUSION does not transfer ownership of an artist's original artwork to ALVIEVE CREATIVE.
Artists retain ownership of their original work, subject to the promotional permission described in these rules.

6. HOW TO ENTER
Create your original YEAR FUSION artwork and post your completed entry on an approved social media platform:
Instagram • Facebook • TikTok
Use the official contest hashtag:
#YEARFUSION
Entrants must also follow any additional tagging, caption, account-following, or submission instructions included in the official YEAR FUSION contest announcement.
Entries must remain publicly viewable during the applicable submission and judging periods so ALVIEVE CREATIVE can locate and review them.

ALVIEVE CREATIVE's designated timekeeping method will determine whether an entry was received before the submission deadline.

8. JUDGING
YEAR FUSION is a skill-based competition.
Entries will be evaluated with an emphasis on:
Originality • Creativity • Interpretation of the Selected Year • Fusion of Selected Elements • Overall Artistic Execution
Technical perfection is not the only goal.
We want to see ideas, imagination, and originality.
A strong YEAR FUSION entry should allow viewers to recognize or experience something about the selected year while still clearly demonstrating the individual artist's creative perspective.
ALVIEVE CREATIVE will select 10 finalists before determining the Grand Prize, Second Place, and Third Place winners.
Winners will not be selected randomly.

The value of the physical prize may fluctuate based on retail pricing.
Huion is not affiliated with, associated with, or a sponsor of YEAR FUSION or ALVIEVE CREATIVE. The Huion prize is purchased independently by ALVIEVE CREATIVE.

10. CASH PRIZE PAYMENTS
Confirmed winners may receive their cash prize through one of the following supported payment methods:
Cash App • PayPal • Venmo
Cash prizes will be paid in U.S. dollars (USD).
Winners will be required to provide the information reasonably necessary for ALVIEVE CREATIVE to issue payment through their selected available payment method.
Payment will only be issued after the potential winner's identity, age, eligibility, and winning entry have been verified.
Cash App, PayPal, and Venmo are not sponsors of, affiliated with, or responsible for the administration of YEAR FUSION.

11. GRAND PRIZE DELIVERY
The HUION Kamvas Pro 16 V2 will be purchased independently by ALVIEVE CREATIVE and shipped to the confirmed Grand Prize winner.
The Grand Prize winner may be required to provide a valid U.S. shipping address and other information reasonably necessary to deliver the prize.
ALVIEVE CREATIVE reserves the right to substitute a physical prize with another prize of equal or greater value if the advertised prize becomes unavailable for reasons outside the reasonable control of ALVIEVE CREATIVE.

12. WINNER NOTIFICATION
Potential winners will be notified through direct message (DM) on the social media platform through which they submitted their qualifying entry.
Potential winners must respond to the official ALVIEVE CREATIVE winner notification within:
72 HOURS
The 72-hour period begins when the official winner notification is sent.
Failure to respond within the required 72-hour period may result in forfeiture of the prize.
If a potential winner:
- Does not respond within 72 hours
- Cannot be contacted
- Declines the prize
- Is determined to be ineligible
- Cannot verify their age or identity
- Cannot reasonably verify creation of their artwork
- Violates these Official Rules
- Fails to provide information reasonably necessary to deliver their prize
ALVIEVE CREATIVE reserves the right to disqualify that potential winner and select an alternate winner based on the competition's judging criteria.

13. WINNER VERIFICATION
Before receiving a prize, potential winners may be required to provide reasonable information necessary to verify:
- Identity
- Age
- U.S. residency
- Eligibility
- Ownership and creation of the submitted artwork
- Compliance with the Official Rules
- Payment information necessary to receive a cash prize
- Shipping information when applicable
A finalist or potential winner who cannot reasonably demonstrate that they created their submitted artwork may be disqualified.

14. TAXES & OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Winners are responsible for any applicable federal, state, or local taxes, reporting requirements, fees, or other obligations associated with accepting or receiving a prize, except where otherwise required by law.
ALVIEVE CREATIVE may request information or documentation reasonably necessary to satisfy applicable tax or reporting requirements.

15. ARTIST FEATURES & PROMOTIONAL PERMISSION
Artists retain ownership of their original artwork.
By entering YEAR FUSION, entrants grant ALVIEVE CREATIVE permission to repost, display, feature, and share their submitted contest artwork for purposes reasonably related to:
- Administering YEAR FUSION
- Promoting YEAR FUSION
- Announcing finalists and winners
- Creating finalist spotlights
- Celebrating participating artists
- Promoting future YEAR FUSION competitions
- Promoting the ALVIEVE CREATIVE community
ALVIEVE CREATIVE will provide appropriate artist credit when reasonably possible.
This permission does not constitute a transfer of ownership of the entrant's original artwork.

16. COMMUNITY STANDARDS
YEAR FUSION was created to celebrate creativity while helping build an inclusive artistic community.
Artists of different backgrounds, perspectives, styles, and experience levels are encouraged to participate.
Artwork containing unlawful content, targeted harassment, hateful content, plagiarism, or material that otherwise violates these Official Rules may be disqualified.
Participants are expected to respect fellow artists and their work.
Competition should inspire creativity—not diminish another creator.

17. DISQUALIFICATION
ALVIEVE CREATIVE reserves the right, subject to applicable law, to disqualify entries or entrants that:
- Violate these Official Rules
- Submit AI-generated artwork
- Submit plagiarized or improperly copied artwork
- Submit artwork they did not create
- Cannot reasonably verify their creative process
- Submit an entry after the deadline
- Provide false eligibility information
- Attempt to manipulate or interfere with the contest or judging process
- Violate applicable social media platform rules
- Engage in conduct that compromises the fairness or integrity of the competition

18. FRAUD & WINNER SAFETY
ALVIEVE CREATIVE WILL NEVER REQUIRE A WINNER TO PAY A FEE TO CLAIM A YEAR FUSION PRIZE.
Do not trust unofficial accounts claiming you have won.
Potential winners should verify that communications are coming from the official ALVIEVE CREATIVE social media account before providing information necessary to claim a prize.
ALVIEVE CREATIVE will never require a winner to purchase something, send money, or pay a processing fee before receiving a legitimate YEAR FUSION prize.

19. SOCIAL MEDIA DISCLAIMER
YEAR FUSION is independently presented and administered by ALVIEVE CREATIVE.
The competition is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Cash App, PayPal, Venmo, Huion, or their respective parent or affiliated companies.
Entrants understand that they are providing their contest entry and related information to ALVIEVE CREATIVE and not to the social media platforms on which the competition is promoted.

20. ACCEPTANCE OF OFFICIAL RULES
By entering YEAR FUSION, participants acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to comply with these Official Contest Rules.
Participation in the competition constitutes acceptance of the rules and the decisions of ALVIEVE CREATIVE regarding the administration and judging of YEAR FUSION, subject to applicable law.

The original Nike Air Jordan 1 (AJ1) was officially released to the public on April 1, 1985. Michael Jordan had already been wearing early versions during his 1984–85 rookie season, but the retail launch came in 1985.
